As EMİB, we organize the biggest country participation in China Xiamen International Stone Fair .Every year there around 150 Turkish companies producing and exporting a wide range of natural stone products present their high quality products both to the Chinese market and to buyers from other countries who will visit the fair.
By Aegean Minerals and Natural Stones Exporters Association "Natural Stone Project and Design Competition" was organized for the first time this year for students and professionals.
It is aimed to introduce Turkish natural stones to designers and architects to increase usage of natural stone in daily life, to contribute design of original and producible products, to bring together the industry and university students and professionals, to develop products that are strong in terms of design, high value added, environmentally friendly & sustainable.
NATURAL STONE INDUSTRY IN TURKEY
In terms of natural stones, and especially marble, Turkey has ample resources since it is located in the Alps mountain range. Turkey has been one of the oldest marble producers in the world with its 4,000 years of background in marble production starting on the Marmara Island. Turkey has immense reserves of marble, travertine, onyx, conglomerate, breccias and magmatic rocks. Having a considerable and quite diverse mineral base, Turkey has one of the worlds largest natural stone reserves, which is considered to be excellent quality and exclusive due to great variety of colors and textures.
Common Characteristic Properties Of Turkish Marbles
Besides these common properties every marble has its specific colors and composition, which make it possible to use them in the production of exclusive products.
Natural stone trade have developed rapidly after the year 2004. Turkish stone can be found in the buildings and side walks of 200 different countries.
More than one third of Turkish natural stone exports are made to China with 40%. The other important trading patner is USA with a share of 15%, which is followed by Saudi Arabia, Iraq, India, UAE, Israel, France and Canada.
